Unita in unico complesso con il convento degli Apostolini del XII-XIII secolo, la chiesa della Concezione si sviluppò nel sec. XVI su un antico eremo che, ricavato nella pietra viva, sta ai piedi dell’edificio. La terrazza, che anticipa l’ingresso alla chiesa, offre una bellissima panoramica sulla valle dell’Ussita e su Visso. Il luogo sacro è meta d’obbligo dei fedeli l’8 dicembre, nella ricorrenza dell’Immacolata Concezione: in ossequio alla tradizione la Messa viene celebrata prima dell’alba a memoria del tempo in cui ognuno doveva subito dopo recarsi al lavoro.
Part of the XII-XIIIth Century convento degli Apostolini, the church of the Concezione arose on an ancient hermitage that was carved out of the rock and which still exists at the foot of the church. The terrace, preceding the church entrance, has beautiful views of the valley of Ussita and the town of Visso. This sacred place is visited by pilgrims on the 8th December, the feast of the Immaculate Conception: a Mass is celebrated before dawn, in memory of the days when people would hurry off to work straight afterwards.
