Strada Comunale Caspriano-Montecavallo
Bellissima chiesa a croce greca, quella di S. Maria di Caspriano, o Gaspreano, fu eretta nel 1577, forse dalle stesse maestranze impegnate nella costruzione del santuario di Macereto. Accanto alla chiesa una torre medievale è stata inglobata in un edificio posteriore. All’interno un grande affresco raffigurante La Madonna col Bambino del 1415, cui è stata addossato un altare ligneo del Seicento, dimostra che l’edificio fu costruito su un santuario preesistente.
A stunning church built to the shape of a Greek cross, S. Maria di Caspriano, or Gaspreano, was erected in 1577, perhaps by the same artists who built the sanctuary in Macereto. Beside the church, a Medieval tower has been connected to a further building situated at the back. Inside, a large fresco of the Madonna and Christ child, dated 1415, has a 17th Century wooden altar backing onto it, proving that the building was erected on a pre-existing place of worship.
